SV-Noticias magazine published a feature article in their April issue on Pueblo Blanco.  Kernelbug Raymaker, co-owner and builder of Pueblo Blanco, was interviewed by Gerion Ferraris.  The article is a 4 page spread with a lot of information provided by Kernelbug on what inspired him to build Pueblo Blanco and what is expected in the future for El Valle, the sister Sim.  The editor of SV-Noticias, Marinabel Martinek, told me one time that Pueblo Blanco reminded her of her childhood and that is such a heartfelt feeling that I believe is felt from anyone who’s lived or visited a region like Andalusia, Spain.  To read the article in-world visit Pueblo Blanco Town Center and look for the SV-Noticias kiosk.  Please note this magazine is entirely in Spanish.

Pueblo Blanco Community will launch a brand new logo design in May and therefore decided to set up a contest. By doing this we let the Second Life community express what Pueblo Blanco means to them.

CONTEST RULES
The logo should represent the theme of Pueblo Blanco which is A Spanish Paradise. It should capture the beauty and the ambiance of the community.  The logo can consist of a scene of the Pueblo Blanco sim, a symbol that represents the essence of Pueblo Blanco, or both.

The sim is open so everyone will be able to explore and get a sense of what Pueblo Blanco has to offer in Second Life. We kindly ask all of you to act appropriate and show respect and understanding to the tenants and visitors by abiding the covenant rules.

You will need to upload your full perm logo on the contest board located at the Park & Club.  Anyone will be able to vote for you with a max vote of 3  per day.

After the public voting, The top 3 finalists will be evaluated by judges.  Finalists will have to submit their work to the judges out of SL in the source format used. Judges will evaluate aesthetical aspects of the logo. But, technical aspects will be evaluated as well such as scalability, color combination test, readability, format and source file structure, and any other graphical design matters that can make a difference between a nice logo or an unusable one.

Textures uploaded to the contest boards should be not bigger than 512×512 and with 1:1 aspect ratio. If your image does not fit that aspect ratio, we suggest you frame it to that size to avoid it looking deformed.

Source files must be one of these formats: .PSD, .FH10, .FH11 or .AI.  These are formats of Photoshop, Freehand or Adobe Illustrator.  Even if not preferred, we will also allow simple bitmap.

All textures loaded on the boards or later submitted to the judges will have to accomplish the following:

  • They must have appropriate content, and suit the contest theme (under the criteria of the contest’s organization)
  • They must be 100% original from you, or, if they use elements from 3rd parties you must be able to prove that you are authorized to use the element and authorized to give them away with or without profit. Any violation of Copyrights detected will be denounced to SL and to the authorities. It must be proven that your picture follows SL TOS and RL laws to be chosen as the winner. Contestants will be asked for this if they reach the finals.
  • We reserve the right of using the textures loaded on the boards and the images and other contents submitted by the finalist at our discretion, without any financial compensation  or reference to the designer, apart from the contest prizes. By joining the contest you agree with giving full rights to Kernelbug Raymaker and Precious Mannonen over the graphical material you are sending.
  • The language used in any text on the image must be English or Spanish. However, the finalist will have to submit the source files in a format that allows text editing to allow the creation of versions in different languages.
  • We also reserve the right of not finally using any of the work submitted for Pueblo Blanco’s marketing.

FEES
In order to improve the quality of the contest, there is a small joining fee of only $350L to avoid people joining with low quality or inappropriate material.

Also, voting is charged with a small fee per vote, to avoid abuse. The voting fee is 5L$ per vote.

Payments are non refundable, even if you leave the contest or you voted for the wrong logo.

PRIZES
Winner’s prize is in the amount of 5,000L$ and his/her logo will be the image of Pueblo Blanco.

Runner up finalists will receive a monetary reward as follows:

The contest is initially set with a prize of 1000 L$. The amount of that can  be increased by anyone who wants to encourage the participation or sponsor the contest by simply paying the contest main board.

When voting is closed, the 3 most voted contestants will receive  the monetary prize split  in 1/2, 1/3, 1/6 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

For example, if the money in the pot is $3,000L, 1st will receive $1,500L, 2nd will receive $1,000L and 3rd $500L.

On March 10, 2010, Pueblo Blanco opened its doors and welcomed several tenants.  The majority of the tenants are shop owners who have fallen in love with the town and immediately setup their shops.  Announcements were sent out to groups and traffic increased instantly with many people from various Spanish speaking countries exploring the sims.  Visitors spend time walking around the town, taking pictures in the chapel, horseback riding, relaxing in the park, and more.

The owners of Pueblo Blanco would like to welcome their first tenants:

  • Luisillo Contepomi of El Tamboril Flamenco
  • Lucrezia Savira of Fotos de Lucrezia
  • Carla Beizer of LOKITAS
  • CANDELA Pfeffer of El Mercadillo de Candela
  • Ariadna Garrigus of Arisaris

These shop owners bring a variety of style to Pueblo Blanco and its visitors.  You can find a photography studio, traditional flamenco dresses, casual, formal, and more. To visit these beautiful shops and take a tour of the sims, click HERE for a teleport.

We will be holding a grand opening celebration soon.  More information to come soon. In the mean time, enjoy a stroll through Pueblo Blanco.
